Conversion Therapy

Therapy or Torture Site

Conversion therapy is a very harmful and archaic practice that is still alive today.
There is no evidence to suggest conversion therapy works.
In fact, data suggests that the practice is dangerous and does the opposite of helping. Rather, it is likely to make prejudice and self-hatred flourish.
It is also shown that ethnic minority groups are twice as likely to be affected and persuaded to undergo this practice.
I believe this connects with Freire's point of the oppressed governing false generosity towards the oppressors.
Similarly, conversion therapy does the same by creating a theme of needing to become cured of this sickness called homosexuality.
